In Xin jin an garden, one of the housing estate in Baoan, Shenzhen, a shed is built near the entrance of the garden for people to take their food and packages. When residents come into the garden, the guard takes their temperature and makes records.

As the coronavirus cases are still showing an upward trend in mainland China, people still have to be stuck at home. Shenzhen, as a city with the most ports in China, has been most affected by the outbreak in Guangdong province. The coronavirus cases are beyond 400 and even surpasses Guangzhou. Fewer people go to the supermarket due to the fear of infection. And online grocery supermarket provides another way for them to but fruit and vegetables. In order to reduce the human-to-human transmission, all the couriers cannot go into the housing estates according to the latest policy. So people who do not want to go to the supermarket need to go downstairs to pick their food and packages.

Inside every elevator, there is a pack of tissues. And elevators are sterilized three times a day. On February 15, Zhang Li Dong, 47, a resident of the Xin jinan garden, draws a tissue with disposable gloves.

Zhang presses the button with a tissue. He is going to take the food that he has bought online. The elevator buttons are all covered with plastic wrap.

There are two trash cans on the ground floor of each building in the garden for residents to throw their used tissues.

Zhang gets up at 6:30 a.m. every day in order to make an early online food delivery appointment. He says this special mask is made by his wife. The mask consists of a sterilized towel and two rubber bands.

Zhang is selecting the food he has bought online under the shed near the entrance of the garden. He says the 'Ding dong supermarket' app is convenient and most of the time the vegetables are fresh.

According to Mr Xie, the guard of the housing estate, the shed is built because some food need to be kept under cool conditions. People come here to take their own food and deliveries.

All the express packages from different courier companies such as Shun Feng, Jing Dong, Yuan Tong are here, too. Peng Fan, 21, a university student says sometimes it is hard to choose his own from piles of packages.

According to Mr Wu, a courier in Baoan District, nearly all the courier companies have returned to work since Feb 10. However, the transportation is still affected by the coronavirus outbreak. For example, sometimes couriers cannot start work in time because of the insufficient protective materials such as masks.

The guard takes temperature of each resident, when they come into the housing estate.

Except for the residents who live in this community, others cannot enter.

Mr. Zhou, the guard of the Xin jinan garden, says the population flow is around 820 every day according to his records. Most people go downstairs for their express packages or take-out foods. So far everyone has been wearing masks consciously.

A trash can is used to store discarded masks.

Zhang goes downstairs two to three times a day. In addition to buying food online, he also buys some other daily necessities. After he returns home, he will immediately wash his hands and disinfect his body with alcohol disinfectant.
